Infant/Toddler

Rita Brenner (1985) holds a BA in Spanish from Hunter College, NY, and holds an American Montessori Society credential in Infant/Toddler from MECA, IL (Seton Montessori Institute).  She is active in the Ukraine Montessori project and hosts the Ukrainian teachers each year. She is an instructor and site consultant for the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE), NJ. Rita’s many years of experience are shared with others as a speaker and lecturer for teachers and parents throughout the country. (Conference Teacher)

Delmy Barrera (1985) studied Montessori Philosophy and Child Development through Princeton Center Teacher Education. She shared her kind spirit, love of music and cooking in her everyday interactions with the children. Kathy Chrzan (1988-2001 & 2009)holds a BA from the University of Scranton, PA with a concentration in Psychology. She holds an American Montessori Society Infant and Toddler credential through the Montessori Center Teacher Education, Scarsdale, NY. She was a former Toddler teacher at Princeton Montessori School, an elementary teacher at the Princeton Charter School and Stuart Country Day School.

Elizabeth Clarke (2009) holds a BA from St. Lawrence University, NY with a major in Fine Arts and Art History. She attended Columbia University, School of Continuing Education, NY for post baccalaureate coursework in Business. She also works part time as the school registrar. She is completing the internship requirements for her American Montessori Society Infant/Toddler credential through the Princeton Center Teacher. (Intern)

Evelia Cunha (2001) has teaching experience ranging from infants to teenagers, the most of it being with two to four year olds. She also has experience working with children with physical challenges and learning differences. ………………………………………………………………………………………

Julia Gibson (2012) holds a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Ottawa and a BA in Psychology from Carleton University in Canada. She has varied experience with all ages of children and has been a tutor, camp counselor, assistant softball coach and classroom teacher.

Barbara Hart (1979) received a BA in Education from The College of New Jersey. She received her American Montessori Society credential in Early Childhood through the Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center, IL and an American Montessori Society credential in Infant/Toddler through the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE), NJ. Barbara was instrumental in the development of the Toddler program when she became Princeton Montessori School’s first toddler teacher. She is a site consultant to PCTE interns. (Conference Teacher)

Maria Johnson (1987) holds a BS in Speech Pathology from James Madison University, a MS in Speech Pathology from Ithaca College and holds an American Montessori Society credential in Infant/Toddler from MECA, IL (Seton Montessori Institute). She is a Parent-Child Specialist with over 20 years experience in the fields of education and parenting. She is the founder of the Princeton Montessori School Infant Center, a PCTE Consultant and Teacher Mentor. During her stewardship she has made a positive, lasting impact on the philosophy, awareness and interactions of many families. Maria has a deep interest and understanding of parents’ concerns and the challenges they face balancing their lives with the lives of young children.

Elena Kurnov (2000) holds an MS and a BS in Chemistry and an MA in Teacher Education from Byelorussian State University, Russia. Elena is a translator for Ukrainian teachers when they come to the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE), NJ to study.  Lisa Meisenbacher (2008) holds a BA in Italian Literature from Rutgers University, NJ and an Infant and Toddler American Montessori Society credential through the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE). Vandana Monteiro (2006) holds an MBA with specialization in Human Resources and a BS in Environmental Science from St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration, India. She holds an American Montessori Society credential in Infant/Toddler through the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE).  Vandana’s philanthropic generosity and educational expertise has led her to begin the process of opening a school in India for Street Children. Gwen Shangle (1992) earned a M.Ed. in Reading from the College of New Jersey and a BA in Psychology and Elementary Education from Georgian Court College, NJ. She is certified by the State of New Jersey as a Reading Specialist for Kindergarten-Eighth grade. She holds an American Montessori Society credential in Elementary I through Seacoast Teacher Education, MA, and in Elementary II through the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE), NJ.  Gwen is an instructor, field consultant for PCTE and a frequent presenter for parents and experienced teachers.

Franziska Quaiser (2011) is a graduate of University of Koblenz (Germany) where she received her 1st State Certificate for Elementary School Education and Department of Education NRW (Germany) where she received her 2nd State Certificate for Elementary School Education. Director of Middle School Programs

Michelle Morrison (1990) holds an MA in Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. She holds an American Montessori Society credential in Elementary I and II through the Seacoast Teacher Education Center, MA and completed her Secondary I training at the Washington Montessori Training Center, CT. She earned an Outdoor Education Certification from Outward Bound for Educators in 1994, incorporating many of the experiential learning practices into the middle school program. She directs the program and teaches history and other classes. She has published articles on middle school education in Montessori Life magazine and spoken at several AMS annual conventions. Michelle is the founding teacher of Princeton Montessori’s Middle School Program. She enjoys international traveling and outdoor sports and works actively for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Christine Soper (2002) holds an MA in French Language and Literature from Wayne State University, MI, a BA in French and Art History from Kalamazoo College, MI, a Diplome Superieur d’Etudes Francaises from the University of Strasbourg, a K-12 certification for public school teaching in the state of Michigan, and completed her Secondary I training at the Washington Montessori Training Center, CT.  Her teaching experience includes French and core subjects at the elementary, middle school and university levels.  She teaches math, history, and geography and other program classes.  Christine has lived and  studied extensively abroad in Poland, France, Germany and Japan, bringing a broad cultural perspective to the classroom. (Conference Teacher)

Lisa Stolzer (1992) hold a BA/BS  in Elementary Education and English from The College of New Jersey, NJ. She has experience at the Toddler, Primary, and Elementary levels. Her creative talents in the arts and writing lend a special value to the school. She is also known for bringing the art of cooking and nutritional experiences to the Elementary students.  During the summer, she leads a group of elementary students to many fun filled discoveries and experiences. Middle School Subject Teachers

Joseph Stencel (1998) holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University, NJ, a M.A. in Health Physics from Vanderbilt University, TN and a B.A. in Physics from St. Johns University, MN. He is a visiting lecturer at Princeton University and was a research professor at Rutgers University. He is a member of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers, the American Nuclear Society, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Health Physics Society. He has been a Fellow in the Health Physics Society since 2001. He has served as a member of the Montgomery Health Board and of the Governor’s Board on Low-Level Waste.  He teachers math in the Middle School program.

Specials Teachers

Pilar Daly (2008) is a graduate of Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (Peru) and Cambridge University (UK). She has over 20 years of experience teaching Spanish, ESL and reading strategies. She taught literature and Spanish in Boca Raton Florida before moved to Pennington NJ at the beginning of 2007. She is committed to helping students achieve their goals.

Carole Golcher (1989) studied at Kean College, NJ and has been instrumental in developing and advancing the Art program for many years. She teaches Art using a variety of media including cross-cultural, international and historical. ..

Eliza Hammer (2012) holds a BA in Anthropology and Architecture from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.  In addition to  working in the classroom, she has experience teaching children yoga, tai chi and karate.          ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Toyoko Kitade (2003) earned an MA from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston and a BA from the Sakuyo College of Music, Japan. She has 30 years of international experience as a Suzuki violin instructor, and was the Assistant Director of the Suzuki Institute of Boston. She completed her Suzuki instructor training with Mieko Moriya, Japan, and Donald Becker, Boston. She is also trained in the Kodály method of music instruction. Her professional performance experience has included a position as Principal 2nd Violin for the Fukuoka City Philharmonic, Japan, as well as serving as a violinist for the New Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo, and the New Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston.

Derry Light Wills (1995) holds a BA in Literature and Performing Arts from Sarah Lawrence College, NY, and completed graduate work in Zoology and Ecology at Rutgers University, NJ, and Princeton University, NJ. Derry holds Orff-Schulwerk certification for Levels I, II, and III from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As a professional performer, Derry worked and toured with a New York-based theater company for several years, and taught voice and improvisation. Currently she continues to work in theater, cabaret, and voice-overs.

Sue Miller (2007) holds a BA in Music Education from Susquehanna University and has since taken Graduate Level (Continuing Education) courses from Westminster Choir College in Piano Pedagogy.  Most recently she studied advanced classical technique with Dr. Stanley Yerlow (www.yerlow.com) who teaches and performs in the NYC area and is a professor at Fordham University.   Her current studies with David Kenney with a focus to jazz improvisation, theory and arranging. Ms. Miller has performed in many different venues over the years, as a solo artist, accompanist and most currently as a band leader.

Alex Mitnick (2000) graduated with honors with a BA in Jazz Guitar from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. He has created numerous original school musicals with the Elementary and Middle School students. Each year Alex writes and composes a song in keeping with the School theme. His music focuses on self-awareness and an appreciation of the world around us. He has produced four CD’s with his Kaleidoscope Band. He belongs to a variety of musical groups that perform for audiences in NJ, NY, and PA. He presents to schools and teachers, and is an instructor for the Princeton Teacher Education (PCTE), NJ.

Rimma Skvortsova (1999) received an MA in Music Pedagogy from Moscow State University of Pedagogy and BA with Honors in Piano Pedagogy and Choir Conducting from the Glinka College of Music, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. She has more than thirty years of experience teaching piano including classical, folk, and modern music in music schools in Russia and United States. Mrs. Skvortsova is skilled in preparing childrens’ recitals and performances. She has been the faculty of Westminster Choir College Faculty since 2000. Her students participated and became winners in domestic and international competitions over the years taking first, second, and third places.

Kelsey Swanson (2008) holds a BS in Sociology from Manchester College, Indiana. She spent one semester in Northern Ireland studying peace and conflict resolutions. Her previous work experience includes working as a manager at TerraCycle in Trenton, NJ, and as an admissions counselor at Manchester College, IN.

Jonathan Thompson (2007) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose talents as a saxophonist, guitarist, and vocalist have been a contribution to the Philadelphia music scene for over ten years. He currently collaborates through writing, performance and / or studio work with Philadelphia and New York area artists including the Machine, Matt Davis’s Aerial Photograph, Oud Blues, Ellipsis, Chris Harford, Sinking Ship and Jason Fraticelli and the Dreams. Jon attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and graduated with a B.A. in music from Temple University.  He formed the alt-country band Lazlo, which released two full-length albums (“Lazlo” and “Old Steel Company”) and opened for national acts such as Lyle Lovett. He returned to Philadelphia in 2006 and began working as a multi-instrumentalist with local and national artists. Jon is a faculty member at the Lawrenceville School, the Princeton Montessori School and the Pennington School, where he teaches guitar and woodwinds.

 Shannon Tuorto (2005) holds a BA in English from the State University of New York at Oswego, NY. She holds an American Montessori Society credential in Elementary II from CMTE in New Rochelle, NY. Her teaching experience includes elementary and middle school levels. She is a talented photographer who has often shared her expertise with the students and faculty.  She and her husband have volunteered services to Heal the Children for many years and are foster parents to a Save the Children recipient.

Director of Princeton Center Teacher Education

Ann Wilson (2006) earned a BA in Geography and Sociology from the University of North Alabama, AL. She holds an American Montessori Society credential at the Elementary I level through the Houston Montessori Training Center, TX, and Elementary II level through the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies, MD. Ann also holds a Level I credential in Montessori Applied to Children At Risk for Learning Differences (MACAR) through the Shelton School in Dallas, TX. She brings many years of experience from both private and public schools as a teacher, Head of School, Principal of a Charter School and Montessori instructor.  Ann is actively involved in the partnership between the Princeton Montessori Society and the Ukrainian Department of Education. She oversees Parent Education and Staff Development.

Business Administrator
Bethanne Byrne (1998) graduated cum laude with a BS in Business Administration and Finance from Rider University, NJ. Her business experience includes both accounting and managing positions at the Kelsey Group, Princeton Day School, and Banana Republic. She is a Notary Public. Bethanne is a Sustainer for the Junior League of Greater Princeton.

Director of School Services
Anita Canzano (1989) studied Early Childhood Development at Rider University, NJ. Her role includes educating and mentoring families, facilitating conflict resolution and problem solving social and developmental issues with parents and teachers. Her experience as a parent, faculty member and Director of School Services provides her a depth of skills in parent education and school networking. She teaches interpersonal skills to the faculty, PCTE and Middle School students. Anita was honored by the YWCA for her contributions to the community through the advancement of her career and received the Tribute to Women Award in 2002.

Technology Specialist
Ginger Christie-Cook (2000) received her BA in Communications and Journalism from The College of New Jersey. In 1998, she joined the Princeton Montessori School community as a parent. Joanne Hartnack (1996) holds an MPA in Public Administration from New York University and a BS in Nursing from College Misericordia, PA. Before joining Princeton Montessori School she worked in the field of pharmaceutical research. In addition to coordinating special events, volunteers, and consultations with parents, Joanne teaches Health in the Middle School program.

Kathryn Marmion (1988/2008) holds a BA from Thomas Edison, NJ and an American Montessori Society Elementary I and II credential . She studied at the Froebel Institute at the University of London. She is responsible for alumni affairs, community outreach, stewardship, student recruitment and overall institutional advancement.

Director of Public Relations and Events
Andrea O’Brian (2006) holds a BFA in Graphic Design from The College of New Jersey, NJ. Before joining Princeton Montessori School, she maintained a successful Graphic Design business for ten years. Prior to that, Andrea worked as a Publishing Specialist and Product Development Coordinator for an international management consultancy.

Director of Technology
Zsuzsanna Ratkay (1990) received her BA degree in Elementary Education and Fine Arts from Kaposvar University, Hungary. She holds a credential in Infant/Toddler from the American Montessori Society through Princeton Center Teacher Education. She was a teacher in Hungary and at the Princeton Montessori School prior to leading the technology department. She specializes in developing and maintaining the Filemaker Pro databases for the School and PCTE.

Publication Specialist

Clara Soto (1995) has certification in Bilingual Secretarial Services and Business Administration from Colombia, S.A. Clara has previous experience as Human Resources Administrator in Colombia, S.A. Clara manages the Human Resources for the faculty and staff.

PCTE Coordinator
Joyce Tatsch (1983) earned a BA in Elementary Education from the College of New Jersey. She received an American Montessori Society credential in Early Childhood through CMTE in New Rochelle, NY. She was an Early Childhood teacher at the Princeton Montessori School for 26 years. Joyce is the Princeton Center Teacher Education (PCTE) Educational Coordinator, Field Consultant Coordinator and serves as a Field Consultant and PCTE Instructor for Practical Life and Classroom Leadership.

Facilities and Operations Manager
Peggy Thompson (1986) has an Executive Secretarial degree from Grace Ball College and studied Business Management at Grossmont College, CA. She is responsible for the supervision and management of the facility and is the school liaison to businesses, contractors, and vendors. Ginny Cusack
(1990) holds an MA from the New Brunswick Theological Seminary, NJ, a BS in Education from Alverno College, WI, an early childhood Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) credential, and a leadership coaching certificate from Georgetown University, Washington, DC.  Ginny is an experienced Montessori teacher, administrator, founder and director of a Montessori School, director emeritus of PCTE, lecturer and parent educator in both public and independent schools. Ginny presently works as a consultant and leadership coach to new and experienced heads of Montessori schools, directors of Montessori teacher-training centers, and those aspiring to become Montessori leaders.  Her website is www.ginnycusack.com

Maintenance Facility Assistant
Bert Robinson (1998) assists with the daily operations of the facility as well as general maintenance projects. Bert retired from the Goodyear Corporation after thirty years with the company. He volunteers at S.A.V.E., and he is a foster parent for homeless dogs.

Housekeeping Manager
Teresa Soto (1997) is responsible for the housekeeping duties and maintenance of the building. She is acknowledged as the person who puts the “special touches” throughout the building, school functions, and events.
