Many have asked if we have special requests from teachers. The answer is yes!
Requests for materials or program opportunities are included in the “Wants-n-Wishes” Campaign wish list. You may sponsor a request by designating this in your donation to the campaign.
Legacy Fund for Teacher Professional Development
This is a new fund in the life of the School. Its first honoree is Marsha Stencel, for whom professional development has been a key priority in her 37 years of directing our first-class school. What better way to show your appreciation of Marsha AND our talented Montessori teachers? Your gift provides opportunities for Montessori training and attendance at educational conferences. Last year, teachers attended a Brain Development conference in NYC, the American Montessori Society Annual conference in Florida, the National Science Teachers Conference, and the Model United Nations Program teacher workshop; in addition 3 teachers received honorariums for their training in Montessori Accreditation for Children at Risk (Reading). Four students, ages 3-10, who would not otherwise be able to enjoy a safe and enriching summer, will be invited to spend the summer in our SummerQuest program at no cost to the family. Give a summer of a lifetime to a child in need. Each family who donates $1500 or more will have an engraved stone added to the SummerQuest Rock Garden on the patio. $4000 per student or $16,000 total (shares of $250). Click here to donate.

Montessori Model United Nations Program
Sponsor the 6/7th grade Middle School students for an experience of a lifetime! Students will participate in the Montessori Model UN in April and will stay overnight in New York City for 3 nights while they compete in this national program. Montessori Model United Nations will prepare our 6/7th grade students for a simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. Students will step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization’s agenda. While playing their roles as ambassadors, student “delegates” make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure – all in the interest of mobilizing “international cooperation” to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world. The insights the students gain from their exploration of history, geography, culture, economics and science contribute to the authenticity of the simulation when the role playing gets under way, and guarantees a lively and memorable experience. $10,000 (shares of $1500). Click here to donate.

Previous and current assemblies have included Wonders of the Rainforest, Skateboard Science, Chinese Acrobats, The Magic of Math, and Russian Folk Dancing. These special events spark the children’s interest in their curricular subjects and bring their imagination to life. $3000 (shares of $250). Click here to donate.

The toddler teachers are hoping to add new outdoor tables and riding toys to their program this year. Click here to donate.
