Montessori Applied to Children at Risk  (MACAR) Training

At PCTE • August 8 – August 14, 2013 (No Class on Sunday) • Course Fee: $2600 pp

The goal of this workshop is to understand the specific needs of children at risk for learning differences and provide specific strategies for matching the Montessori educational method to those needs. The content of the workshop includes:

  • An Overview of Learning Differences
  • Understanding the At-Risk Child
  • Modification of Montessori Methods and Techniques
  • Oral and Written Language Program
  • Social Skills Development/Discipline
  • Practical Life, Sensorial and Mathematics for the At-Risk Child
  • Practicum including observation and participation in environments with students who have learning differences

Two-Day  Science & Ecology Workshop

Erika Ohlhaver at PCTE • August 8 – 9, 2013 • Cost: $389 pp (Includes lunch) 

Wondering how to Implement Science and Ecology in a Montessori Classroom? The course is based on understanding and implementing Montessori’s belief of the interconnectedness of all things, and offers an in-depth study of science through ecology and how to accomodate the various scientific educational requirements that our students are faced with on a daily basis. Over these two days, you will learn how to:

  • Enhance your self-awareness in the natural world
  • Build an understanding of the way children perceive science
  • Implement a cross disciplinary curriculum
  • Develop a project-based, hands-on approach to Ecology
  • Apply critical thinking techniques to complex scientific processes
