Middle School Community Building

By September 11, 2018Uncategorized

Maria Montessori called on all Secondary teachers to take students out into the world

and to begin their year by building community.

Middle School students visited The Watershed Institute in Pennington, providing the students the opportunity to get to know each other and to start the year off with some biology study. Students were presented with a problem (“Would you release a bluegill sunfish in this stream?”) and they decided what they needed to know about the fish and about the stream. Then, students conducted tests to determine the health of the stream and also found biotic factors in the area in order to the answer to the question (they were divided as a result of their collected data). Students enjoyed a pizza dinner upon their return to school.
