In Social Studies, the 5th-grade students are completing their Young Activist unit which focuses on the connections between caring, community, and action. They spent weeks researching a young activist who inspires them and crafting an actionable plan related to a social concern of their choosing. Through their work, they studied the different ways young people can make their voices heard while learning about the impact of systems on different communities. Part of their final project asked them to present a speech in the 1st person point of view from the perspective of their young activist and creating awareness signs about the social concern that they studied.
