Middle School Environmental and Sustainability Studies
We have ambitious goals in advancing our Middle School students’ understanding of environmental issues! While learning about the devastating impact of climate change, the students will be empowered to confront these challenges with hope and confidence in their ability to make a difference. The recent 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) was a critical meeting that will have an enormous impact on our children’s future. The importance of the moment was perhaps most eloquently put by Sir David Attenborough in a short speech to the UN Security Council – you can watch it here.
In addition to their classroom lessons, the students are working on various projects. Not only will these projects enhance the students’ knowledge and develop key skills, but they also support the school’s sustainability plans. In addition, MS students continue to learn the basics of farming from Marchese Family farms so that they know where their food comes from and how to make healthy choices for themselves and the planet. Finally, Middle School will be starting a community service project to help restore adjacent woodland in partnership with the Ridgeview Conservancy.
A list of student projects is below.
