The Elementary SummerQuest students learned about caring for pets and came up with a way to help SAVE (Small Animal Veterinary Endowment) in their mission to support homeless animals.
The director and another colleague from SAVE visited the program to talk to the students about the animal shelter and also how to take good care of pets. They brought Winter one of the shelter dogs! In preparation for the visit, Elementary students made toys for the cats and dogs, adoption posters, and no-bake dog treats for the SAVE representative to bring back for the animals. In addition, the SQ students hosted a collection drive to help the homeless animals at SAVE.
The students crushed dried catnip for the cat toys and made no bake dog treats with Wow butter and quick oats.
This visit from SAVE impressed Violet so much that she decided to have a fundraiser on behalf of SAVE when she got home!
