Our goals are based on the Montessori philosophy. Dr. Montessori herself said, “There must be provision for the child to have contact with Nature, to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in Nature …. so the child may better understand and participate in the marvelous things which civilization creates .”
Gery Juleff, sustainability manager and Ecology Teacher, gives an update on a recent class
“LE students enjoyed their Ecology class in the woods in the unseasonably warm weather this January. They are learning about biospheres and biomes, but also how to help each other overcome some of the challenges that come with exploring the woods – assisting a friend to climb up out of the ‘Big Hole’, or navigate through the multiflora rose thorns. Real-life lessons and real-life fun!’
