As part of our Farm to School program, Upper and Lower Elementary students enjoyed another trip to Marchese Family Farm last week. The focus of this visit was the many factors the farmer needs to take into account when planting and helping his crops grow. Farming is not easy! Both sets of students were able to help Farmer Marchese prepare one of his big tunnels for planting – work that they really enjoyed. The highlight of the trip was getting to know Charlie the pony, the goats, geese, ducks and hens!
The Princeton Montessori Farm to School program is in its 8th year. The purpose of the program is to connect students to the land, have them learn about where food comes from and gain awareness of healthier food choices, and become stewards of their local environment.
