The Upper Elementary (grades three through five) program supports the emerging student as he enters a new developmental phase filled with wonder, interest, and active enthusiasm. By sparking imagination and following a student’s passion, teachers create an environment that allows children to thrive academically as well as develop a sense of belonging in the classroom and school community.
The beautiful weather makes it possible to bring the classroom outdoors. The 3rd graders are writing entries in their nature journals about the signs of spring!
Practical Life activities are an integral part of a Montessori environment at every age. Upper Elementary 5th graders put their practical life skills into action and work together to build a shelf for the classroom. One student was heard saying, “I love this because I want to be an engineer when I grow up.”
