The Upper Elementary (grades three through five) program supports the emerging student as he enters a new developmental phase filled with wonder, interest, and active enthusiasm. By sparking imagination and following a student’s passion, teachers create an environment that allows children to thrive academically as well as develop a sense of belonging in the classroom and school community.
The third-grade students recently completed their study of ancient civilizations by giving team presentations. From Indus Valley, Mesoamerica and Mesopotamia to Ancient Rome, China and Egypt, the children researched the fundamental needs of the people in different civilizations, created and gathered materials for display, and presented their research to the class. Each presentation was followed by a question and answer session led by the students.
