Elementary and Middle School programs are invited to participate in Scholastic Book Clubs, which means each month students have the opportunity to select and purchase books of interest to them. This addition to our program is to scaffold our choice and independent reading initiatives within the classrooms.
It is easy to participate!
- Create an account: https://clubs.scholastic.com/
- Add your class code:
- Lower Elementary: YGWBC
- Upper Elementary and Middle School: WBQHW
- Order Books by the 15th of each month – books will be delivered to the School and distributed by the teachers
Books are purchased directly through the website and will be delivered to the school and distributed by the teachers. The students are always excited when their books arrive!
We ask that parents do their best to genuinely allow their children to choose the books they want to read, as current research within the literacy field highlights the vital connection between reading choice and reading engagement. Ultimately, this lends itself to improved performances in fluency and comprehension.
The process of choosing and reading a book for pleasure and a love of reading is a skill-set that we are seeking to build within our students, and this book club is an accessible way for parents to help support this goal. Books purchased through Scholastic Book Clubs are competitively priced, and participation in this program enables the teaching teams to purchase additional books to enhance our classroom libraries.
If you have any questions regarding Scholastic Book Clubs, or would like additional guidance and/or suggestions regarding book choices, please reach out to your child’s conference teacher.
