Middle School students ventured out into the wonderful Sourland Mountain for the day accompanied by Mr. Juleff, HOS, Mrs. Morrison, and Ms. Johnson. Staff from the Sourland Conservancy, a non-profit dedicated to protecting and preserving this unique and beautiful wilderness on our doorstep, provided the students with a fun, interesting and informative day out.
The students planted trees, monitored a stream, calculated the age of trees and hiked the Cedar Ridge Preserve. Through doing this, they gained a greater appreciation of this invaluable resource in our own neighborhood and the need to preserve it and enjoyed the simple pleasures and health benefits of being out in nature. Students also impressed their guides with their previous knowledge of and appreciation for the environment and their earnest efforts at all the activities they engaged in.
