A Montessori Middle School education offers an experiential, dynamic approach to each subject area, integrated studies between programs, and a focus on character development and self-exploration.
In Science class, students have been learning about sound waves in our unit “Can you hear me?’. The goal of the unit was to use logic and models to understand how unseen phenomena affect our tangible world. The students began with the basic principles and properties of sound waves which they then studied through physical and computer-simulated models. As they near the end of the unit they spent a fun (be it loud!) week consolidating their understanding before work starts on summative assessment projects carrying out simple experiments to reinforce the properties of sound waves and creating a model of the human ear.
