Being culturally competent in today’s schools requires a self-awareness and cultural understanding of conscious and unconscious biases that can affect our interactions with children, families, and each other.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, Princeton Montessori School faculty and staff recently completed three important training sessions on Diversity and Inclusion, Anti-harassment and Unconscious Bias. By taking the training our faculty and staff confirm our commitment to being professional and respectful individuals.

The Science Behind Unconscious Bias:

This course was designed to awaken employees to the biases we all have that sway our behaviors, decisions, and actions. Whether we’re aware of them or not, their influence is all around us and can affect how we treat people.

Diversity and Inclusion:

In today’s diverse workforce it’s important for everyone to embrace the talents of all people in the workplace regardless of cultural and personal differences. This “Diversity and Inclusion” training provided details about what it means to be part of a diverse workplace and insight into how an individuals actions can make an organization more inclusive for everyone – regardless of their background.

Anti-harassment:

This Anti-Harassment training dove into the different types of discrimination and harassment, their effects, and response strategies to handle inappropriate and unacceptable behaviors.
