Back to School Night provides an opportunity for parents to experience the life of their child in the course of a school day, learn more about curriculum, procedures, and practices, and get to know the teaching staff and fellow parents better. It is an event for parents, which includes a short presentation in children’s classrooms, followed by a social gathering for parents and teachers.
“Human beings want to know their relationship to their environment. When children enter a new space, they often want to look at and touch everything around them. They enjoy knowing “where” they fit in – from their own cubby and coat hook to their chosen place on the circle. Classrooms and schools should be designed for this important tendency to unfold. This fits within the overall task of the teacher, which is to observe the needs of the child and make adjustments in the environment to better suit those needs.“
