This interactive workshop will introduce parents to the fundamentals of the Montessori philosophy, method, curriculum, and discipline approach. In addition to learning and meeting other parents, you will be able to 'get in sync' with the Montessori approach to maximize the return on your investment in a Montessori education. Lunch will provided, as will coffee/tea/water and light snacks.
In recognition of Election Day, in Language Extensions, 5th grade students practiced close reading strategies using an informational text on voting rights. While they worked through comprehension responses, they were also invited to engage in a silent discussion around a single question written on the whiteboard. Silent conversations are a dialogic strategy that gives students an opportunity to “slow down” their thinking and focus on the viewpoints of others in a purposeful way.
The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood.
