For our 50th anniversary year, we are hosting Dr. Dan Domenech, author of ‘Personalizing 21st Century Education’, and grandfather to two students in our school, as our guest speaker. He was chosen as he has a message, based on his many years of experience as a leader of public schools, that the schools of the present and future should embody a model of personalized learning, modeled in Montessori schools.
Bio of Dr. Domenech:
Dr. Daniel A. Domenech, also known as Dan, Ph.D., serves as the Executive Director of the American Association of School Administrators. Dr. Domenech has more than 40 years of experience in public education. Maria Montessori called on all Secondary teachers to take students out into the world and to begin their year by building community.
This month, Middle School students went toFairview Lake YMCA Campin Newton, NJ, to do just that! Students worked together to complete group challenges in the woods, and used creative thinking and ingenuity to build shelters out of found materials. They had time at the end for reflection and connections by boating on the lake. Students got to know each other better, had a great time working together, and left the camp with positive attitudes. It was another great experience!
The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood.
