Many classrooms had presentations about Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, which is celebrated every autumn in the northern hemisphere. The festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Clay lamps, called diyas, are lit to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.

In the Primary program each of the classes learned about Diwali. Divya and Adithya, our Remote learners, had a Zoom call with their classmates, sharing a book and showing the children their beautiful outfits and also the sparklers they intended to light at night. They had four generations of their family together for this important celebration!
Mrs. Sami gave a presentation to the Lower Elementary students about the Indian festival of lights. In honoring the tradition of the holiday, the students painted their own diyas.
