The lower elementary class joined the Project FeederWatch, a survey of birds of The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which runs from mid-November till the end of April. Facilities installed the hook and the bird feeder right outside the LE classroom for us to begin participating in the project. LE friends made pinecone bird feeders and hung them on the surrounding trees to invite birds to our feeding station. Students are taking turns watching and counting the birds visiting our feeding station and recording their counts on the feeder watch data collection site. Students were so excited to see so many birds coming and enjoying the bird seeds. We are happy to be a part of the project that is joined by thousands of people and schools all over the united states and Canada. We are looking forward to a wonderful season of watching the birds.
