School Spirit Day & Community Service Event

When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.

Primary through Middle School students gathered together to celebrate our third School Spirit Day. This year our Spirit Days are all about “Roots.” We came together in the Crescendo room to complete the TASK Community Service project which was organized by the Parent Association.

After Mr. Mitnick led the community in singing “Leading the Way”, Mrs. VonWachenfeldt talked to the group about ‘Root to rise’ which teaches us how moving from a place of stability is a good way to grow, and even find a sense of freedom. We have to be grounded before we can grow, or we will find ourselves wobbling! Our foundation can help us all grow taller and reach higher and weather any storms that come our way. At Princeton Montessori, our foundation starts in the infant and toddler program. Believe it or not, even at that young age, we’re starting to build skills and character traits that will stay with us throughout our entire lives!

Next, it was time to get to work putting together take-home meal bags to donate to TASK. Over the past few weeks, families donated food, Primary decorated bags, and Lower Elementary made cards. Upper Elementary and Middle School students led the bag assembly project during Spirit Day with the help of parent volunteers. Each student was invited to fill up a meal bag. Middle School students packed up the finished bags and Parent Association Community Service Chair, Riya Smith delivered the bags to TASK.

Middle School Rock Band performed to close out this special School Spirit Day.

Thank you to the parents for your generous donations, to the Parent Association Community Service Chair, Riya Smith for organizing this event, to the parent volunteers, and to the entire school community for helping to make this event a great success!

Spirit Days happen 4 times a year, and the community wears our school shirts or colors, and Primary, Elementary, and Middle School students, teachers, and staff come together for a special community gathering.
