Every year on the first Saturday in May, thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and a celebration of the labyrinth experience. We celebrated at school on June 3rd. In celebration of World Labyrinth Day Primary students walked the beloved community labyrinth to slow down, quiet their minds, and encourage peacefulness.Storyteller Maria LoBiondo and her collaborator, Marianne Alt, had a special program for the Elementary students. After an introduction to World Labyrinth Day and a short story related to building bridges for peace, the students walked the labyrinth and reflected on what they had learned. There was also a chance to do two labyrinth-related activities: decorating a stone and using a finger labyrinth. At the end of the program, students had an opportunity to share a word or two about the experience.
