Eighth Grade Spotlight

By March 22, 2024Alumni

Weekly feature spotlighting each of our Eighth graders which asks them to reflect on their Middle School experiences and share some of the highlights and what they are most proud of.

Meet Sadie Betz

What is one of your favorite highlights from the middle school program?

One of my favorite experiences from my middle school years is the trip to Spain. This might seem like an obvious choice since it’s the trip everyone talks about and looks forward to, even when you’re in Lower Elementary. But trying to describe the trip doesn’t even do it justice. It was such an exciting and amazing experience, one that I’ll definitely remember. Being away for ten days was exhausting, especially considering how packed each day was with activities. One of my favorite activities was snorkeling. The water in the Mediterranean is so clear, and despite being cold, it was extremely fun. While there, I also tried a variety of different foods, which was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I still enjoyed it.

What skill(s) did you develop thanks to your Montessori/IB education that are you most proud of?

As a result of my Montessori and IB education, I have become really efficient at managing my time. This skill is not only beneficial for school but also for everyday life. Planning when to complete my schoolwork alongside my afterschool activities has been particularly helpful. Additionally, managing time is an important IB attribute, emphasizing the significance of this skill in both academic and personal ways. I have not only learned when to plan to do my work but also have been exposed to different study methods and tactics to get my work done in a timely manner.

What will you miss the most after you graduate from PMonts?

When I graduate from PMonts, I believe I will miss my peers and the community the most. Over the years, I have developed close relationships with my classmates and teachers. There’s undeniably a special sense of community at PMonts. I’ll miss the morning and class meetings, along with playing spikeball, basketball, soccer, and football during recess. One of the most significant and unique aspects of PMonts is the community spirit and the mutual appreciation, love, and respect everyone shares.
