Back to School Night offered a wonderful opportunity for parents to visit the classrooms and learn more about curriculum, procedures, and practices, as well as get to know the teaching staff and fellow parents. The evening concluded with a wine and cheese social gathering for parents and teachers.
“Human beings want to know their relationship to their environment. When children enter a new space, they often want to look at and touch everything around them. They enjoy knowing “where” they fit in – from their own cubby and coat hook to their chosen place on the circle. Classrooms and schools should be designed for this important tendency to unfold. This fits within the overall task of the teacher, which is to observe the needs of the child and make adjustments in the environment to better suit those needs.“ – Maria Montessori
