Fun Trip to Build Community

By September 6, 2019Uncategorized

Maria Montessori called on all Secondary teachers to take students out into

the world and to begin their year by building community.

Middle School students visited the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton Township, providing the students the opportunity to get to know each other and enjoy some team-building and bonding while exploring the 42-acre sculpture park, museum, and arboretum!

The students participated in two hands-on workshops.  One was about looking at things differently, using 10 random objects and a Polaroid camera the students had to go around the park and take pictures of sculptures that remind them the objects. In the second workshop, groups built a “found object” sculpture. They learn about found object art, and used their creativity to repurpose a variety of materials into a one-of-a-kind sculpture.
