Upper Elementary students participated in the World Peace Game – a week-long, immersive simulation created by educator John Hunter. In this game, students take on roles within world powers and global organizations to solve a web of interconnected crises on a large game board. Success requires diplomacy, logic, collaboration, and leadership, all while navigating real-world complexities. Once set up, the game is entirely student-run.
Throughout the week, students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, critical thinking, and diplomacy as they navigated complex global crises. Together, they embraced the challenge of managing four world powers and organizations, working tirelessly to repair and stabilize the world depicted on our game board. From negotiating strategic alliances to mitigating environmental disasters, each decision made by our students had profound ripple effects across the entire system. They approached each crisis with creativity and resilience, embodying the spirit of collaboration essential for tackling real-world challenges.
We celebrate their achievements in achieving global cooperation and understanding through their dedication and thoughtful deliberations. They showed us that peace is achievable when we work together with empathy and determination. It was an amazing, immersive learning experience.
