Meet Alyssa Portnoi

Alyssa joined Princeton Montessori School in 2019, supporting our summer program while working in public early childhood education.  After experiencing Montessori, she decided to move to a career as a Montessori teacher.  Alyssa is now in the process of earning her Early Childhood credential from PCTE and is serving her intern year in the Sunflower Room in the Primary program, under the guidance of Master Teacher, Anjum Khan.

What do you love about working with children?

Children are so creative and kind. I love watching the excitement in their eyes when they learn something new!

What drew you to Montessori?

I enjoy the peacefulness of a Montessori classroom and how respectful the dynamic is among the teachers and students.  I also love how math and language is taught in a hands-on way. I wish I had gone to a Montessori school and learned this way!

What’s one thing you’d like families to know about you?

In my spare time I enjoy doing arts and crafts. Some of my favorite activities are coloring, painting, and making decorations.

.

Alyssa received a BA in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from the College of New Jersey. She holds certifications in Early Childhood Education, and CORE content knowledge, CEAS.
