On alternate Wednesdays, the Upper and Lower Elementary after-school students meet with Upper Elementary teacher Aish Saminathan for Math Makers – a weekly gathering to engage in mathematics in meaningful and inventive ways. The activities serve as a platform to create opportunities for students to develop team-building skills, creativity, and interest in math, science, arts, engineering and technology. So far, the students have learned to build LED paper circuits using copper tapes, constructing stable towers with stirrers and dominoes, robotic arms using straws and glow-stick hexagonal structures.
