Elementary Teacher

Are you a Montessori-trained educator who believes deeply in children’s curiosity, independence, and potential? About Princeton Montessori School
Founded in 1968, Princeton Montessori School is a co-educational independent school serving over 220 students from infancy through 8th grade. Our beautiful 21-acre campus, surrounded by natural
wetlands, provides an inspiring environment for exploration and learning. Our 52,000-square-foot facility houses thoughtfully prepared classrooms that are designed to support authentic Montessori
education. Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Classroom Leadership
● Design and present engaging lessons using Montessori materials and methods
● Guide students through individualized and small-group learning experiences
● Teach core academic subjects within the Montessori elementary curriculum
● Foster independence, responsibility, and collaboration in the classroom community
● Maintain a well-prepared, organized, and inspiring Montessori environment
● Supervise and support students throughout the school day

Parent Partnership
● Serve as the primary liaison for parents of an assigned group of students
● Communicate regularly with families about student progress and development
● Lead two parent conferences annually
● Partner with families to support each child’s growth

Professional Collaboration
● Maintain accurate records of student progress and benchmarks
● Prepare written conference reports for student files
● Participate in faculty meetings, school initiatives, and professional development
● Collaborate closely with colleagues to strengthen the Elementary program
● Contribute to a classroom culture rooted in respect, curiosity, and independence

Qualifications
● AMS Elementary I, II, or I-II credential (required)
● Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (required)

Princeton Montessori School is a well-established, accredited, independent PreK-8 school located in Princeton, NJ. Our Middle School program is built on the core principles of Montessori
education and is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). We take a holistic approach to learning, helping students develop critical thinking skills, self-awareness, and a lifelong love of discovery.

Who We’re Looking For
We seek an engaging, student-centered educator who:
● Is passionate about teaching IB science and design curriculum, and working with
adolescents in grades 6-8.
● Create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students take ownership
of their education.
● Has experience teaching science and design, and familiarity with IB or Montessori
methodologies (or a willingness to learn!).
● Thrives in a collaborative, professional setting with strong communication and
organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
● Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons for middle school students.
● Develop and continuously refine unit plans and curriculum materials.
● Work closely with colleagues to maintain consistency in instructional practices, grading, and student assessments.
● Serve as a conference teacher for up to ten students, supporting their academic and personal development.
● Supervise middle school students during various activities throughout the school day.
● Maintain accurate records of student progress in alignment with school policies.
● Foster a classroom atmosphere of curiosity, independence, and respect, in keeping with Montessori and IB principles.
● Participate in school-wide initiatives, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in education, science, or a related field.
● Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an upper elementary, middle school,
or high school setting.
● Experience with or willingness to train in IB MYP and/or Montessori methodologies.

Classroom Assistant/Substitute

Infant through Early Childhood programs

Seeking a focused, calm individual who enjoys working around young children and being a support to teachers. The candidate should be someone who is interested in learning about the Montessori philosophy of teaching. Responsibilities include assisting teachers and preparing and maintaining a classroom environment in multi-age groupings from infants through age 6. A quiet and calm demeanor and professional appearance are a must. Background check necessary and previous experience a plus. You would be called to work for either an 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or a 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM schedule on any given day. Starting salary $35,000

Elementary through Middle School programs

Seeking an energetic, well-balanced individual who enjoys working with older children and is comfortable and familiar implementing lesson plans left by subject teachers. The candidate should be someone who is interested in learning about the Montessori philosophy of teaching. Responsibilities include assisting teachers, preparing and maintaining a classroom environment in multi-age groupings, and supervising and initiating lesson plans for subject teachers in their absence. A professional appearance and respectful demeanor is a must. Background check necessary and previous experience a plus. You would be called to work for either an 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or a 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM schedule on any given day. Competitive hourly salary.
