AMS Reaccreditation Site Visit

By November 6, 2025All Programs

Dear PMonts Community,

I’m pleased to share that Princeton Montessori School will host our American Montessori Society (AMS) reaccreditation site visit from Sunday, November 16, through Wednesday, November 19. This is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to high standards and continuous improvement. Did you know that in NJ, there are approximately 57 AMS member schools, but only seven fully-accredited schools? We are proud to retain the highest accreditation standards and belong to such an esteemed group.

Why Accreditation Matters
Accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process that:

  • Confirms our program meets nationally recognized AMS standards for Montessori practice, child safety, teaching and learning, and school operations.
  • Promotes a culture of reflection and growth through regular self-study and external review.
  • Provides added assurance to families that PMonts delivers a high-quality, mission-aligned Montessori education.

What to Expect During the Visit
A small team of trained AMS peer reviewers will:

  • Observe classrooms across levels during normal routines.
  • Review program documents and safety protocols.
  • Meet with faculty, staff, trustees, and a selection of parents and students to hear about their experiences.
  • School days will run as usual. You may see friendly visitors on campus wearing badges and moving between classrooms and offices.

Opportunity to Meet the Visiting Team
We plan to offer a parent/guardian conversation with the team on Monday, Nov 17, 2:00 – 2:45 PM (on campus). If you’re interested, please email me and we’ll confirm details and space availability.

How You Can Help

  • Please extend a warm welcome to our visitors.
  • Keep to regular routines—authentic, everyday PMonts activity is exactly what the team hopes to see.
  • Ensure student arrival, dismissal, and security procedures are followed carefully.

We’ll share more details soon, including final logistics and any additional opportunities to participate. Thank you for partnering with us and for the many ways you support an excellent Montessori experience for children every day. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Best,
Andrea O’Brian, Head of School
