Eighth Grade Spotlight

By May 8, 2025Alumni

We spotlight each of our Eighth graders and ask them to reflect on their Middle School experiences and share some of the highlights and what they are most proud of.

Meet Bea Clarke

What is one of your favorite highlights from the middle school program?

One of my favorite highlights from the Montessori Middle School program was participating in the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) in 7th grade. I had the opportunity to collaborate with my peers, meet students from around the world, engage in meaningful discussions about real global issues, and work together on group projects that required compromise, research, and critical thinking. I also strengthened my public speaking skills by representing Algeria and presenting resolutions in front of a large audience, which helped me become more confident and articulate. It was such an enjoyable and memorable experience that truly pushed me out of my comfort zone. I hope to continue participating in Model UN at The Thatcher School next year in California, where I can keep developing these skills. The trip to New York City was not only exciting, but it also brought my classmates and me closer together. Sharing this experience with them created lasting memories and helped build stronger friendships. MMUN made me feel like my voice mattered, and it showed me the power of respectful dialogue and global citizenship.

What skill(s) did you develop thanks to your Montessori/IB education that are you most proud of?

I’m really proud of how much I’ve grown in my time management skills. Over the past three years in the Middle School program at PMonts, I’ve learned how to balance my homework and personal responsibilities in a way that feels manageable and productive. I’m especially grateful to have developed this skill here because I know it will serve me well in high school and beyond.

This growth was also reflected in my Community Project, where I focused on helping younger students learn how to manage their time. In doing so, I not only supported others but also deepened my own understanding and habits. Teaching them reminded me of strategies I could apply in my own life, and I’ve continued to build on those skills. Time management has truly become one of the most valuable tools I’ve gained from my middle school experience.

What will you miss the most after you graduate from PMonts?

As I prepare to graduate from PMonts, I know one of the things I will miss the most is the incredible community of teachers and students who have been such an important part of my life.

After spending 11 years here, this school truly feels like a second home. I’ve grown up alongside my classmates, and I’ve built strong, lasting connections with my teachers who have guided, supported, and inspired me over the years.

It’s hard to imagine not seeing the same familiar faces every day next year. I have so many wonderful memories of classroom moments, trips, and even the everyday routines that I’ll carry with me. PMonts has helped shape who I am today, and for that, I will always be grateful. I truly hope to stay in touch and see everyone again after I graduate.
