Upper Elementary Loves to Read

By March 22, 2021Elementary

Upper Elementary 4th and 5th graders use their “writer’s glasses” to help them push through difficult passages in their novels and read like writers. As they move through the program, they are beginning to read critically to understand an author’s purpose, while subsequently analyzing and immersing themselves in those choices in areas such as character and plot development, language, and dialogue. Learning to read like writers allows students to be informed by these choices as they engage in their own writing processes.

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

~ Richard Steele

Students have been embracing the sun and warm air and getting outside to read on our beautiful campus!
