Preparing for MMUN

By September 16, 2025Uncategorized

mmunnn (1)The 7th and 8th-grade students engage in the Montessori Model United Nations every other year. Held in New York City, the conference provides a platform for our students to interact with hundreds of other Montessori students from around the world! This year, our students will serve as representatives for Iraq, Cuba, Paraguay, and Thailand. This experience allows students to gain insight into global issues while exploring the unique perspectives and cultures of these nations.

Students have begun researching their countries and the global issues they will defend, including:
  • Children and Armed Conflict
  • Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems
  • Education for Democracy
  • The Human Rights of Migrants
  • Advancement of Women
  • Human Rights and Climate Change
  • Human Genome Editing
  • Refugee and Migrant Health
Soon, students will begin writing their position papers, outlining their country’s stance on these pressing world challenges. The journey has started, and we look forward to watching their growth as global delegates!

The 2026 MMUN Conference takes place February 18–21. To find out more about Montessori Model United Nations visit their website.
