Collaborative Artwork by Toddler and Primary Children
At the Toddler and Primary levels, Mrs. McElheny is leading a program called Art Atelier. During this time, children are invited to explore open-ended art materials in an outdoor setting. This allows the children a hands-on introduction to the elements of art in a naturalistic and intuitive way.
Recently the programs worked on creating a Natural Wreath. Artists of all ages embrace the season of Autumn and Fall for its colorful gifts and engagement with sensorial textures. The children have been exploring art experiences incorporating natural treasures left for creative hands to make art.
Both Toddlers and Primary fastened leaves to the wreath and then created their own natural collage.
Primary children also made Leaf Rubbing and painted pinecones. Our toddlers were exploring ways to make a line of sticks around a leaf. This lesson offers the child an opportunity to focus intently on placing the sticks neighboring the leaf.
