“Only through freedom and environmental experience
is it practically possible for human development to occur.”
― Maria Montessori
Whether it is slicing bananas or hard-boiled eggs, chopping vegetables, or grating cheese, children of all ages love to prepare and eat food. The Toddler After School children enjoyed making delicious smoothies. They cut up all types of fruit, poured in the milk, and watched as the all the ingredients were pureed into a yummy drink. Of course, one of the best parts was tasting their creation!
Cooking experiences at this age create an opportunity for Toddlers to explore and use their hands, discovering new textures and using all their senses. The children are more than capable of participating and helping to prepare a recipe. They enjoy the process and it encourages them to be open to tasting new things.
