Last week in UE started with Selene and Juliette doing a great presentation on Passover and ended with Mila and Allie presenting about Easter.
On Wednesday, all grades finished their research report final copy, and the first group presented about their countries, which are in Central Europe.
On Thursday, Winslow and Victoria were the first 3rd graders to present their public speaking project. Victoria talked about the Chicxulub meteorite and Winslow about asthma.
For cultural lessons, I interviewed Winslow. He said that the 3rd graders worked on classifying invertebrates and vertebrates this week. They also learned that “dumb kings play cards on fat green stools” is an acronym for classification of living things – “kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.”
They also got an introduction to the microscope, the different types of microscopes, and viewed some parts of animals, plants, and fungi at different magnifications.
The 4th graders are learning things about early humans, such as Australopithecus. They also had to research and write a report on different humans, and they are making a timeline of humans.
The 5th graders learned about circuits and built snap circuits to learn about currents.
