We are pleased to have our Secondary School Placement Coordinator, Dr. Amanda Rose, guiding families through the high school admissions process. Here are some of the many ways PMonts supports our middle school students and their families:
7th Grade:
- Parent meeting to introduce them to the overall application process and criteria for school admissions.
- Parent meeting to explain SSAT in more detail (if requested)
- Students receive a light introduction to the SSAT structure and strategies – one for math and one for verbal/reading
- Students take Upper-Level test for baseline score at PMonts (Flex Test) in spring
- Parents can schedule a meeting with Dr. Rose to review test scores and plan the next steps
- Students and parents will identify independent schools to pursue in the fall
- Students will each be given an account to the Test Innovator SSAT practice test online preparation program
8th Grade:
- Family conversations with Dr. Rose to review the process and school options
- The school will keep parents updated about their deadlines and responsibilities
- Families will attend open houses, tours, interviews
- Staff will conduct practice interviews with students and provide detailed feedback
- Group SSAT Strategy sessions with the option for two additional 1-on-1 sessions with Dr. Rose and Paul Koerte (math)
- Ongoing contact with Dr. Rose on progress
- Dr. Rose will proofread parent and student essays and offer feedback where appropriate
