Primary through Middle School children gathered together to celebrate our first School Spirit Day of the year. School Spirit Days are joyous celebrations which spiral our awareness from self to our community, to our school, and ultimately connect us to the wondrous earth which we all inhabit. To start the presentation everyone watched a beautiful video BLUE BOAT HOME.
It was a fun colorful assembly exploring this year’s theme, The Four Elements : WATER, EARTH, FIRE, and AIR. Mrs. Hammer introduced the first element – AIR, a symbol of new beginnings. In the new school year we will work together, breathe together, and learn together! Everyone participated in this heartwarming and reflective event expressing ourselves musically and theatrically. We delighted in being a vibrant community and directed our attention to the interesting properties of air, breath, and blue sky. Songs were sung, skits performed, and poems were shared to bring the community together and explore the theme.
Several Upper Elementary children delightfully performed a skit based on a Native American Legend called PUSH UP THE SKY. The Lower Elementary children created beautiful posters representing the Four Elements. The After School students created a colorful mural of happy children playing in a big blue sky. It consists of many self portraits and expressively dressed the stage. The mural fit in magically with one of Mr. Mitnick’s songs which we sang together, Blue Sky Time! Middle School helped with the grand finale and expertly ran all electronic equipments for music, videos, and lights. Scroll down to see a short video of the Grand Finale Globe Toss!
