UE has been working really hard for the past two weeks. The new snack prep has started, and it has been really nice. For the first week of snacks, Nolan was handling the snacks, and it was very yummy. He brought things like fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, and cereal. Last week, Alex was prepping snacks, and it was delicious. There were cheese sticks, muffins, crackers, blueberries, grapes, and clementines. The new snack system started two weeks ago, and it is nice not to bring your own snack. In the UE kitchen area, 4th Graders are carrying on the tradition of making tea for the teachers. The teachers are loving it!
Cosmic Education lessons have been generating amazing follow-up work. In Biology, UE had the edible cell lesson, and it was scrumptious. And there is no doubt that everyone loved it. UE students used things like chocolate pudding and gummies to recreate a cell that they could eat. In Physical Science, UE studied black holes and supernovae, the life cycle of different stars, and parts of an atom. In History, students are finishing up their timelines and having a lot of fun.

On October 8th, it was the first School Spirit Day, and Middle School was in charge of leading it. Middle School’s rock band performed, as usual. They performed four songs. However, they made one tweak. This time, they were in different groups. They also read a short story to us. We had a good time there.
On October 15th, to close Hispanic Heritage Month, the 5th Graders presented their research about all the Spanish speaking countries from the Americas. It was nice to learn new things in Spanish. They spent a lot of time working on it, and it was wonderful to learn new things from different cultures.
On the same day, Saif Aqeel, Minha’s dad, came and talked about his career as an IT (information technology) consultant. It was very interesting. We all enjoyed it a lot.
Last but not least, our 5th Graders have been going on Fridays to meet their Reading Buddies from Kindergarten. It is 30 minutes where the younger students read to the older students and vice versa. All students really have a good time doing it.
