The 5th-grade students visited Middle School this week, thinking they were attending a meeting about summer homework, but they had a special surprise waiting for them! Our current 6th and 7th-graders prepared a thoughtful ceremony to welcome them into the Middle School community.
They made personalized cards and selected special beads for each student to add to the Middle School necklace. This is one of our cherished traditions: the passing of a necklace made up of beads that represent each individual in our Middle School community. Every year, our current students choose a bead for each incoming 6th grader as a symbol of belonging and connection.
Audrey, one of our current 7th graders, shared a beautiful welcome speech about collaboration, friendship, memorable moments, and what it truly means to be part of the Middle School program.
After the welcome ceremony, students were introduced to their summer homework by each of their Middle School teachers and had the opportunity to begin preparing for the exciting journey ahead.
