Presented by Dr. Dan Domenech
For our 50th anniversary year, we are hosting Dr. Dan Domenech, author of ‘Personalizing 21st Century Education’, and grandfather to two students in our school, as our guest speaker. He was chosen as he has a message, based on his many years of experience as a leader of public schools, that the schools of the present and future should embody a model of personalized learning, modeled in Montessori schools.
Bio of Dr. Domenech:
Dr. Daniel A. Domenech, also known as Dan, Ph.D., serves as the Executive Director of the American Association of School Administrators. Dr. Domenech has more than 40 years of experience in public education. He served as senior vice president for national urban markets with McGraw-Hill Education and was responsible for building strong relationships with large school districts nationwide. He served as Superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools, among other career positions.
Middle School enjoyed a ‘Mindfulness’ hike with Mrs. Morrison and Mr. Grandbouche in the nearbySourland Preserve. Students learned about the policy of ‘leave no trace’ while enjoying nature. They ended their hike in a five minute meditation in using all of their senses to take in the moment and their surroundings.
At Princeton Montessori School children at all levels enjoy time for recharging through our holistic approach to education. They practice mindfulness, yoga, time in nature, and solitude.
The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood.
