Welcome to this week’s newsletter. Last week, on Wednesday the 29th, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm, there was a fun Mega V event where all students from 3rd year primary to 8th grade played a fun variation of dodgeball. Also, on Thursday the 30th, detectives from the Montgomery Police Department gave a presentation to 5th-grade and Middle School students about Cybersecurity.
In culture last week, 3rd-grade students learned about the layers of the atmosphere in Physical Science. In Biology, 4th-grade students split into groups and learned about mollusks, amphibians, dinosaurs, coral reefs, photosynthesis, food chains, webs, extinct animals, and birds. The 5th-grade students learned about and built Lenape shelters with various materials from the classroom and outdoors.
Sahil Parmeshwaran had his birthday celebration last week, and he did his life in a bag where he showed his skiing trophy, stuffed animal, a picture of him in Hong Kong, and a soccer ball.
Durga’s dad, Ashok Subramanian, came to class to talk about his occupation as a Hedge Fund manager and gave everyone a good idea about how money grows. Lylaa’s mom, Shabnam Salih, came to talk to us about her career experience in government service. It was great to learn about the branches of government and the role she has been playing in it.

Sahil did his public speaking this week about Pelé, a Brazilian soccer player who won 3 World Cups. The week before, Elliot did his public speaking on Space and he shared many facts about our galaxy and ALICE, which stands for A Large Ion Collision Experiment. On the same day was Durga’s public speaking on bees, where she shared the differences between bees and wasps.
Two weeks ago was musical week, where the Upper Elementary students worked really hard on the songs and choreography of the amazing performance of Born to Learn you saw on Friday, April 24th. Our amazing music teacher Mr. Mitnick wrote all the songs and worked really hard to help us sing them, and Ms. Nicolette helped the UE students with the choreography and helped us with the dance moves. Mrs. VonWachenfeldt embodied Maria Montessori and played her really well.
