“The senses, being the explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge.” – Dr. Maria Montessori
The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970. The idea was to raise awareness about our role in protecting our natural world and to educate and inspire people to protect the environment. Students at all levels can make a difference in helping our Earth.
Dr. Montessori had a deep respect and reverence for nature and believed that we should use nature to inspire children. She encouraged Montessori teachers to take the children outside whenever possible. At PMonts, our students spend a lot of time outside, not only on Earth Day but every day!
For Earth Day, Lower Elementary students planted outdoors and indoors, wrote Earth Day poems, and wathched our butterflies begin emerging from their chrysalides!

Primary and Toddlers children planted seeds, learned about the parts of a flower, and enjoyed exploring the great outdoors! Children love to connect to the Earth through hands-on experiences. Whether it’s going on a nature walk, planting seeds or observing our campus come alive during spring, our children are growing into the most mindful stewards!

4th graders Allie, Juliette, and Adara attended the Morven Earth Day Trashion Show! Trashion – original designs made from items that would otherwise have been discarded or recycled. Turn ordinary trash into extraordinary fashion!
