Athens vs. Sparta: Democracy, Debate, and Decisions
Our Middle School students transformed the Outdoor Classroom into Ancient Greece as they participated in a Greek debate: Athens vs. Sparta – War or Peace.
Students were assigned different roles within the city-states and experienced firsthand how democracy worked through discussion, persuasion, and voting. Each student had the opportunity to speak, defend ideas, and participate in the final decision-making process.

Interestingly, as often happened in real history, many groups ultimately voted for war over peace, leading to meaningful conversations about human nature, power, conflict, and the challenges of democracy.

It was a wonderful hands-on experience full of critical thinking, collaboration, and historical immersion!
